Chatting with the Enemy: CFCnet Interview
Tonight we will see yet another encounter between Liverpool and the Chavs, with a place in the Carling Cup Semi-Final at stake.
CFCnet.co.uk is Chelsea’s longest-running and most popular independent fansite, so we took some time in asking Toby Brown their thoughts on the match itself, and our rivalry that seems to be as bitter as any other rivalry.
1. Okay first-things-first, your prediction for Wednesday’s clash?
I hope we win and win well, it’s quite obvious from the posts on our site that we’re mostly sick to the back teeth of Liverpool and facing them in any competition, so if we must do so, a nice three or four goal win would make
it worth while.
2. Give three words to describe how you feel about the Carling Cup?
It’s our trophy.
3. Do you expect Avram Grant to give your fringe players a chance in this
game?
I expect Avram to play the players he thinks can win the game. If that includes a couple of hungry youngsters then so be it. I’d like to see Scotty Sinclair given a run now he’s back from his loan spell, he’s
definitely one for the future and for some Chelsea supporters, myself included, rate him a better prospect than Theo Walcott.
4. What is your main priority now this season?
To win games, and keep on winning games in the hope that somewhere along the line, it ends up with a trophy. Depending on what you believe, that may also need to be done with a certain style.
5. Has the rivalry between our two clubs dampened down after Mourinho’s
departure?
I don’t know how Liverpool supporters feel about us now, some were disappointed he’s gone, but equally happy that a ‘rival’ has been weakened. My feelings towards your club and indeed it’s supporters in general, is one
of disdain. I don’t expect it to be any different towards us, Jose or no Jose.
6. Which Liverpool player would you most like to see playing for you?
There aren’t many in your team would make ours if I’m brutally honest. I like Alonso and think he’s probably your best player. Could swap Shevchenko for Torres, if you’d like?
7. Which Chelsea players do you think would get into Liverpool’s starting
XI?
Cech, Ferreira, JT, Carvalho, A. Cole, Lampard, Essien, Joe Cole, Ballack, Malouda, Drogba.
8. When we say “Luis Garcia”, you say?
C*nt.
Thanks for taking the time to respond and good luck with tonight’s game.
