Chatting with the Enemy: City Fans

1. How has your backing/impression of Sven Goran Eriksson compared now to when he was at the English helm?

(Big Blue Moony) - It has changed a lot, he was always a fantastic club manager though.

(bbm) - Improved, although I have always respected and admired SGE I now have a lot more faith and confidence in him.

(Ntini77) - Improved a lot, just proves how overrated England actually are.

(Stevieswig) - I always liked eriksson, however i thought that he became too friendly with the so called ‘big’ players. Mcclaren the same but i don think capello will let that happen. SGE is a legend at city club management suits him better.

2. What stance do you hold over the former-Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann debacle of a view weeks back? (of Sven: that he should be “given a new contract”; and the owner: that “he is too old”)

(Big Blue Moony) - I feel we should get rid of Hamann. With Elano back, annd Bresciano could be joining us, we simply don’t need him.

(bbm) - Don’t worry about it SGE calls the shots, the owner will say things now and then that don’t fit, he’s new to the football politics, however he knows the big decisions are SGE’s.

(Ntini77) - We need to get him signing a new contract, our player of the season so far in my opinion.

3. After such a tremendous start, would you be content with a top 10 finish?

(Big Blue Moony) - No, we have spent so much money, nothing less than top 6 would do.

(bbm) - Yes and No. Probably a little disappointed, top 6, ok.

(Ntini77) - No sadly because that would mean a terrible dip in form, top 6 would be nice.

4. Are you as good as your start suggests, or does a lot flatter to deceive? Have you been fortunate in some of your results?

(Big Blue Moony) - Yes we have, but we have also been unlucky in some of our results, it all evens out in the end.

(bbm) - Yes we have been lucky, but no more than any of the other teams in the league, we have also had our share of bad decisiuons/bad luck, so I think our position is fully deserved.

(Ntini77) - Of course we’ve been fortunate in some of our results but we’ve also been unfortunate in some of our results also, so anyone that says our current league position is flattering, is talking absolute nonsense.

5. Can you break the Champions League quartet and who is the weak link of the ‘big four’ to allow that to happen?

(Big Blue Moony) - Sorry to say this, but Liverpool, they’ve been knocked down to 5th by Everton, why can’t we do it?

(bbm) - To be honest probably not, however who knows ? I think if anyone is to drop out of that spot it looks to be liverpool, we’ll see Saturday !

(Ntini77) - Liverpool are the weak link of the top 4, as they don’t have a creative midfield (Editor - You sure about that?).
And yes we can, but we probably won’t this season unless we starting picking up points away from home.

6. Are you unnerved at the prospect of buying success (ala Chelsea), or is the chance for real glory too much to resist? Is it now a case of, ‘the more money the better’?

(Big Blue Moony) - Obviously money helps, but with a great manager, we don’t need bucket loads. I don’t care about our image as a football club, as long as we do better than United, I don’t care!

(bbm) - With SGE buying, yes, look at the evidence the most he has spent ion a single player is £8.8 million, Villa spent £8 mill on Reo-Coker, West Ham £8 mill on Parker. Compare that to Chelsea with £21 mill for SWP etc, etc. I don’t think with SGE at the helm the money will be splashed in the way it was at Chelsea so yes, as long as Sven has what he needs it’s all good. If he wants to spend £200 million, great if he wants to spend £2 mill, great.

(Ntini77) - Every side in the top 4 has spent money, teams like Newcastle & Villa have spent millions more than us over the past seasons with little achievement, which says a great deal about Sven

7. How do you believe Sunday’s fixture will shape the top of the table between City and Liverpool? (in the race for Europe)

(Big Blue Moony) - Well it is a must win for City. Liverpool have a game in hand anyway, and with our diabolical goal difference, we need 3 points.

(bbm) - I honestly think you will break our home winning run, however I think it will be a draw. Thus leaving us in 4th and prime position for that spot.

(Ntini77) - Big game for us, because if we lose tonight and on Sunday our dreams of top six might just have vanished

8. Tell us why you have what it takes to go 100% all season at the City of Manchester Stadium and the main reason Liverpool won’t beat you?

(Big Blue Moony) - Because of our terrific fan base. Yes you have Torres, but who better to stop him than Dunne and Richards?

(bbm) - As I said, it will probably be a draw.

(Ntini77) - Because we have players now that can change games out of nowhere like Petrov & Elano.

9. After Torres’ semi-demolition of Derby, and his sealing of the Pompey match a few day’s prior, the question on the lips of everyone will be ‘can you contain El Nino?’

(Big Blue Moony) - Yes, however if he gets a few shots on target he will score, Joe Hart is a really dodgy keeper, and given the chance Torres wil bag a few against him.

(bbm) - Yes. Dunne will keep him in check and if he loses him, Richards is faster.

(Ntini77) - Yes we should be able to, he’s a good player not a great one and I’m backing Micah to contain him as he’s quicker and stronger than Torres.

10. What ever happened to Kasper Schmeichel after his supposedly ‘inspired’ early season form?

(Big Blue Moony) - Andreas Issakson got back into action. Kasper didn’t like it, he’s now out on loan.

(bbm) - He is still brilliant. Sven started the season with Kasper due to injuries, he then told his 3 keepers they would all get a stinit at playing before xmas and he would then choose his number 1. Kasper played 7 games, then went out on loan, Joe Hart played 7, then Isaksson played 6. Last week Sven confirmed that Hart was his official number 1. Isaksson will probably leave in January for first team football, Kasper will come back from his loan at Cardiff and play in Cup games etc as currently although he’s very good, Hart is better.

(Ntini77) - Currently performing well for Cardiff in the Championship.

Thanks to the three City fans who took the time in answering, it’s greatly appreciated and good luck for this afternoon’s battle - may the best team win.
