Celtic favourites to land Sami
After numerous rumours circulating a variety of publications recently, Celtic are said to be joining the frantic chase for our long-serving defensive kingpin in Sami Hyypia.
Sami, 34, has spent nine seasons at Anfield and is yet to be offered a contract extension, increasing speculation that he is another out-bound player with Kevin Keegan of Newcastle leading the chase for the Finnish international legend, with Fulham and Wigan showing interest also.
£6.5million new-signing, Martin Skrtel, is a direct competitor for a starting-slot in the heart of our defence, so regular games for Sami are looking less and less likely by the week, especially when Danial Agger returns (again) from long-term injury.
The Scottish giants’ manager Gordon Strachen is a long-standing admirer of Sami, with previous attempts to sign him falling by the wayside as the giant Finn wanted one last chance at the title.
However, the lack of a new contract extension has dis-heartened Sami with life at Anfield, making the move all the more likely in the forthcoming summer.

I like him as a player and would love to see him at Celtic.
Me to, I have been saying for months that we need an experienced centre half for Europe. Mick & Caldwell will come good, but they are just not experienced enough just now for the Barcas of this world.
Remember Henchoz, yeah great signing, he’s started looking past it the last couple of months, liverpool no clean sheet in last 11. He’ll want at least 30grand/week. Poor investment even if we get 1 good season we cannot get any resale fee and his second season at 36yrs would be dubious, bad signing a sink hole for 2 seasons money in wages for a few good performances ala graveson. We need to spend money on someone at 24-26 and get a resale value it just makes good business sense.
about time celts got central he would be great at celts
