Carra refuses to get carried away

Published by fiz on October 26, 2008

Jamie Carragher has refused to get carried away with his side’s superb recent form.

Liverpool ended Chelsea’s unbeaten home league record which dated back to February 2004.

But Carragher has his feet firmly on the ground, even though Liverpool are three points clear of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.

“Before today Chelsea were playing as well as anyone in Europe. To come here and win should give our confidence a boost but we realise there’s a long way to go yet,” he told liverpoolfc.tv.

“Their record was never going to go on forever, they were always going to lose at some point, and I’m just glad it was us who managed to beat them.

“We are top of the table but as I said, there’s a long way to go. Over recent years Chelsea and United have been towards the top and ourselves and Arsenal are trying to get involved and challenge. Hopefully we can bridge the gap this season.”
