Cally: “Gerrard would walk into any team”

Published by fiz on November 26, 2008

Liverpool legend Ian Callaghan believes Steven Gerrard would walk into any team in the world.

The Reds’ record appearance holder knows Gerrard would fit in perfectly in any of the great Liverpool teams of the past.

“When I think of him, I think of Roy of the Rovers, he just does everything,” Callaghan told BBC Radio Merseyside.

“He’d walk into any team, the 60s team, the 70s team and the 80s team.”

“Stevie is one of the best players in the world. All the top clubs in Europe would want him.

“He’s turned so many games around, and he’s done it on umpteen occasions.

“He leads by example, I don’t think he goes round shouting at people, he’ll have a quiet word, but it’s about what he does, and players have to be of a high standard when Stevie’s around.”
