Brazilian set to miss season opener
Brazilian star Lucas Leiva looks set to miss the start of the new season after being selected as part of the huge 74-man Brazil squad for the Olympic Games in August.
If selected for the final squad to take part in the competition, Lucas will miss our league opener and all UEFA Champions League qualifying games we must undertake.
“It is very difficult because no-one likes to miss games for their club. But the Olympics is very important in Brazil and if I want to play in the World Cup games then I cannot afford to miss this tournament.” said the 21-year-old.
“But if I do go then I will pick up more experience and hopefully I will also develop as a player and that would be good for me and for Liverpool.” he added.
