Blues make audacious bid for Torres
Published by liverpoolrox on May 13, 2008
Liverpool were called “talent poachers” when they tried to sign Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff. But listen to this: Chelsea have just put in a £40 million bid for our Spanish superstar Fernando Torres.
If we are talent poachers, what are they?! Rafa Benitez has promptly turned down the bid, but there is no doubt that the Chavs will come back with their Russian money to try and seduce Torres to Stamford Bridge.
And almost equally likely is Torres staying put. After a hit debut season, he has reiterating that he is settled in our club, and no amount of money will woo him.
This bid really demonstrated what Chelsea are all about. Look at their past signings: Shevchenko, Ballack, Malouda, SWP.
All had a shining bright future ahead of them, and where are they now? On the bench, living in virtual animosity in comparison to the stardom they worked so hard towards at their previous club.
Instead, making the headlines is players like Skrtel and Torres, whom we plucked from relative nowheres.
