Benitez set to swoop for bargain-buy winger?
Aaron Lennon is reportedly surplus-to-requirements at White Hart Lane with manager Juande Ramos looking to cash-in on the English winger in order to raise funds for his own rebuilding programme.
Valued in the £10million bracket, Lennon has sparked serious interest from a host of Serie A clubs who are all willing to step-in with a firm offer during the forthcoming summer transfer-period, but Rafa Benitez is said to be ready to tempt the 19-year-old with an impressive wage-packet to make a switch up-North to Merseyside.
A bid of around £6million could be too tempting for Ramos, with a pre-agreed move being arranged before the season end’s a likely solution for Benitez, who is seriously under-powered in the wingers department.

I’d prefer Pennant; similar standard. No point in replacing 7/10 with 7/10. If we are going to get a winger, I’d like one with real quality who could possibly play on both flanks.
lennon had a fantastic season in 2006/07 but hasn’t been the same this season, but he’s still so young and has tremendous potential (just like Penannt did) and for under £10mill you can’t really complain tbh, especially at some of todays prices for English starlets!
Lennon would be a good for us and would definitely be ahead of Pennant at the pecking order. He has greater skill and pace compared to Pennant and seems to be capable of getting into good scoring situations – unfortunately his shooting is crap. Pennant out, Lennon In – otherwise as Chris stated in the post it is not worth getting two similar players.
getting lennon would be great….. strengthen liverpool’s in terms of english blokes in the squad an his quite quick off the mark ….great for gerrard to use for counter attacking……
but me i would wish we could bring “aiden mcgeady” to anfeld…… what a player….
Lennon is a good buy..F we do bought him,its another pennant i guess..Why not Ashley Young??..Skillful wit the ball, great vision, excellent potential and can play in both flanks..
I really don’t think Lennon is the way to go if we’re to forge an assault on the title - he has NO end product whatsoever. He can run like hell and dribble past anyone but if you can’t shoot or cross then you’re wasting your time.
If we were to go for a winger i’d rather we went for Bentley - not as quick as someone like Lennon, Pennant or Wright-Phillips but his delivery (which is what we’ve lacked for years) is very good and he has a great shot on him… The fact he can play both wings is a bonus too.
Well, i firmly agree with Ben… What we really need in the Liverpool line up is an extremely versatile winger…..Both Right & Left side….
Secondly, it has to be a complete winger,in terms of crosses, passing ability, dribbling, strength, finishing, set pieces….
Well, the favourite would certainly be Bentley from Blacburn Rov….
We can also have Mancini (Roma), Joaquin (Valencia), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Robben (R.Madrid)……
The system Rafa, is using at the moment to great effect is not about wingers, but more about attacking full backs. So I believe Alaves, would be best option, as he can play A number of roles. Costly yes, but would give us great energy and balance, so worth the punt.
rafinha is also a great attacking right back you can go on fantastic runs down the right hand side dueing matches and would be around 15million pounds cheaper!
If British Bentley, hes both a winger and a good allrounder. If not, go abroad and pay what it takes to improve the standard of what we allready have.
