Benitez Quiet On Transfers
Published by JMitchell on August 13, 2008
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez decided to concentrate on tomorrow’s meeting with Standard Liege instead of talking about incoming transfer of Gareth Barry in his pre-match conferance tonight.
Benitez said on Sky Sports, “I am not thinking about signing players at the moment, because they cannot play against Liege tomorrow. I am only concentrating on this game,” said Benitez before adding, “And I have not needed to contact the owners because they cannot help with the preparation for this match. I prefer not to say anything else”.
Over the last 6 months Benitez’s relationship with owners Hicks & Gillett has come under a lot of pressure but Benitez refused to admit that it is affecting his team for tomorrow nights game. The Spaniard said “I have not been distracted, I have been focusing on this game and getting to the Champions League group stages.”
Liverpool go into tomorrow’s game waiting on the fitness of skipper Steven Gerrard.
