Barry Willing To Risk Move To Liverpool
Published by Daniel Watchorn on August 14, 2008
Gareth Barry is willing to risk a possible move to Liverpool by playing in Aston Villa’s UEFA Cup qualifier against FH Hafnarfjordur tomorrow evening.
Barry is set to admirably put the interests of his current club over those of his own future as Martin O’Neill made clear that the player is “ready, willing and able to play, which is great.”
An injury to new signing Steve Sidwell has left Villa fragile in the centre of midfield and so an appearance from the England international seems likely. If Barry does indeed play for Villa, he will be unable to play Champions League football with Liverpool until after the group stage.
While this may not entirely deter Liverpool, the assured loss of Barry for key games during the season may mean management look elsewhere.
