Barcelona president admits Benitez interest

Rafa Benitez emerged as the top candidate to replace Frank Rijkaard in the summer. It was reported that Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, would try to tempt the Spaniard back to Spain.

It is almost certain that Rijkaard won’t be at Nou Camp next season. He has been linked with a move to Chelsea recently.

Rijkaard is said to be under fire as they trail Real Madrid in the race for the Spanish title for the second season running. Real Madrid are leading the table with 4 points.

Barcelona has joined Valencia and Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Benitez. Despite all the speculations, it is unlikely that he’ll leave Liverpool.
