Ashley assaulted by Angry Newcastle fans

Published by Purch on March 9, 2008

Mike Ashley was targeted by angry Newcastle fans yesterday during Liverpool’s 3-0 romp. The most obnoxious attack launched after the third goal where a fan accused him of being stingy and ruining Keegan’s chances of a good team.

Another fan who had been drinking hours earlier made a lunge for him but at the end of the day Ashley was targeted and blamed as the fans back former red Kevin Keegan. The game was dominated by Liverpool and angry Newcastle fans are now hoping they avoid relegation and Ashley loosens the purse strings.

If this is indeed true (forgive me for not trusting a story out of liverpool) then that is silly and foolish. Because of Mike Ashley we’ve still got a club to support. He has put us on a path to success, you can’t have your cake and eat it to. You couldnt’ve had him put his money into transfers when the club financially wouldnt’ve survived the season. Fools. Mike Ashley is the greatest man to come to Newcastle since Alan Shearer

When it says ‘attacked,’ what actually happened?
I mean that incident regarding Tom Hicks Jr was pretty unsavoury, but I assume this wasn’t in the same vein?

Pretty sure they just mean he was yelled at. I doubt we actually threw things at Mr. Ashley.

I see. I never really had Newcastle fans as that sort of fans really. Especially since you would still be in the Dark Ages with Freddy Sheperd if it wasn’t for him…

i was at the game next to mike ashley and nothing but support was thrown at him, the assault your talking about, either verbal or physical never happened.

is it “crap april fool’s day”? this is the most ridiculous made up story i’ve ever heard. at best it’s based on a drunken overheard conversation in a pub but even that’s a long shot. sort it out?

than its more fake information perpetuated by those wanting to bring Newcastle down. We wouldn’t even be in the dark ages. We’d be in the nothing ages after our team declared bankruptcy. Freddy Shepherd was setting our team up, and Mike Ashley has saved the day.

    WE LOVE YOU MIKE!

I was right next to Mike Ashley. Nothing happenned. This article is just fiction and somebody making mischief. As a set of fans we’re worried but Saturday saw nothing but support for our team and some banter with the Liverpool fans.

This was what i wrote. In fact i was on the train coming home and there were 30+ Newcastle fans and one was “bragging” how he layed into Ashley after halftime and was restrained by mates. He says he and some other fans were shouting their mouths off at him

So Purch it was one fan (Quote “targeted by angry Newcastle fans yesterday”), who would be pissed and an idiot, who probably sat actually a fair distance away, trying to show off. I have sat near Ashley on a number of occassions and he always has his minders about. All clubs have an element of brainless twits, perhaps this ones mates should have done football a favour and let him try to get to Ashley and see how long he would have been bragging in intensive care….

PS Good Luck to Liverpool against Milan.
