Arsenal rival Liverpool for Barry
Published by fiz on August 22, 2008
Arsene Wenger has expressed interest in signing Gareth Barry. The departure of Mathieu Flamini, Alexander Hleb and Gilberto Silva promted Wenger to bring in a quality replacement.
Barry looked set to join Liverpool this summer but both clubs could not agree a deal. Liverpool felt that the £18million price tag is too high.
“There is always interest,” Wenger said. “I cannot tell you much more. He’s one of the players we follow.
“I find Barry a good player. The problems with players who are 27, 28 is that you pay big money but you get nothing back, no resale,” he told The Daily Express.
