Argentinean star on the verge of Anfield switch
Rafael Benitez is on the verge of landing Pablo Aimar, a player he first worked alongside whilst at Valencia, from Zaragoza in a window-deadline deal that could be completed by tomorrow (Tuesday).
“Rafa is an excellent coach who knows me very well and Liverpool would be an ideal place to go if I cannot sort out my future here.” said the sought after Argentinean, who at 28 years-of-age, has entered his prime years and would be a fantastic signing for the Reds.
“From what I can see, English football is the best in Europe next to Spain and I do not think I would have a problem adapting to the Premiership.” he added.

Aimar would be a great little purchase for no more than 10m. Otherwise, Benitez is better off looking at picking up a Van der Vaart or Diego from the Bundesliga for a little extra coin - both of whom can play in any attacking role asked of them.

In an ideal world I would love to see someone like David Villa join us, but since his asking price will be sky high that’s extremely unlikely. Aimar could be a good cut price signing and could prove to be better than certain other so-called “strikers” in our squad (get Voronin out, Kuyt if we find someone who can actually put the ball in the back of the net rather than row Z of the Kop).
