Agger faces Reds KO for season

Daniel Agger is set to finalise his season after agreeing to undergo surgery on a troublesome metatarsal which has plagued him all season. The Dane has twice failed to make first team returns after re-fracturing the bone.

Benitez told LiverpoolFC.TV, “It’s a blow for Daniel but we want to get his problem sorted, We have defensive cover and Martin Skrtel is playing very well. Daniel will be back for next season.”

The surgery is likely to start next week. Alonso and Agger both broke metatarsals in a training session early into the season. Alonso has succesfully returned having had one recurrence of the injury and became a dad this week and missed the Inter game. Agger has now decided to try and correct the problem and make sure his future remains at Anfield.
